Who doesn’t love a good haul? More importantly, who doesn’t love a good book? I’ve been making it my mission to continue collecting books. When I lived in New York I was pretty good at this. Amassing quite the collection of novels. Since moving to California, most of the books I’ve read have been on my iPad and I haven’t shipped any of my books here yet. I miss books. The feel of turning the pages. The smell of the paper. I love everything about holding an actual book in my hand. I’ve come across so many bargain book stores, thrift stores and even some 99cent and Dollar Tree stores that sell books for insanely affordable prices. Below are a few of my latest finds. I’ve also included some random lines that I read when opening the novels.
An Heiress At Heart by Jennifer Delamere ($1)
I found this gem at a Dollar Tree and even though I haven’t read it yet. The description makes the book out to be some 1840’s love triangle based around a young woman’s dying wish for her best friend to assume her identity and travel back to her hometown to make amends. Very intriguing. What also caught me was a line in the book when I opened it to read a section at random.
“Dearest Ria. You must marry me.”
Doesn’t it just make you want to swoon? I’m not sure how good this book will be but I’ll keep you posted once I finish reading it.
The Girl Who Played With Fire by Stieg Larsson ($3)
Who doesn’t know about this series? Thriller, mystery, espionage and overall badassness is delivered in abundance. I’ve read and seen the movie for The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo so I’m familiar with the writing and storylines but I’m so happy to have found this copy at such an amazing price!
“It’s not a sex shop. It’s a fashion boutique for people who like sexy underwear.”
Not sure what the context surrounding this line is but I can’t wait to read!
The Light Between Oceans by M.L. Stedman ($3)
This is probably my most exciting purchase. I’ve been wanting to read this book for a while now but I kept putting it off because I didn’t want to buy the iBooks version. I wanted an actually copy. I saw it in the window of a bargain book store and beelined to the register to purchase it. I can’t wait to read it especially after so many amazing reviews and the fact that it’s slated to come out in theaters in 2016.
“A lighthouse is for others; powerless to illuminate the space closest to it.”
I’ll do an update post at the end of the year about my favorite books read in 2015, hopefully these will be in that list!
